Sam Elliott heads an all-star cast in this western mini-series. In the Old West, cool-and-collected gunsmith Hugh Cardiff escapes from the law. Apparently the authorities want to bring him in for murder, so he moves from here to there, encountering a variety of characters. After Cardiff saves a man's life and is welcomed into -- though soon banished from -- the lucky soul's home, he meets an old cowpoke and a tenderfoot.
